Lakeside camping in the Southern Vosges
It all began in the 1990s
Our history with camping is a family passion that dates back to the 1990s. After several memorable camping trips, we wanted to share this unique experience with other families. So in 2003, we took the plunge and began managing a municipal campground and a recreation center in northern Alsace.
Over the course of seven seasons, we’ve learned, experimented, and—above all—discovered just how much camping can create unforgettable memories. This experience confirmed one thing for us: we wanted to turn this passion into our career.
The Founding of EMC Vacances and the Adventure in Franche-Comté

2014: Les Castors Campground—A Dream Come True
In 2014, a new chapter in our history began with the acquisition of Camping Les Castors, located in Burnhaupt-le-Haut, in the Haut-Rhin department. This campground, which we revitalized and expanded, has now become a well-known destination that combines comfort, authenticity, and an Alsatian atmosphere.
Our goal? To make Camping Les Castors a major player in promoting Alsatian culture. To that end, we have implemented:
- An Alsatian neighborhood unlike any other in the world: chalets inspired by traditional Alsatian architecture, offering a complete immersion in our region.
- The famous Alsatian evenings: convivial gatherings where we share our love for local traditions with you, featuring folk dances in period costumes and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
- The campground has been adorned with flowers and beautified in a way that rivals the most beautiful postcards from Alsace.
What makes us proud? Having transformed this campground into a place where hospitality, nature, and Alsatian culture come together to offer our campers an authentic and memorable experience.
2022: Les Ballastières Campground, a New Challenge in Haute-Saône
In 2022, we took on a new challenge: taking over Camping Les Ballastières, located in Champagney, in the Haute-Saône department. This campground, nestled on the shore of a lake, presented us with an opportunity to showcase a region that is incredibly rich but still too little known.
Our mission? To help visitors discover the Southern Vosges through a nature-focused, relaxing, and friendly camping experience. With its unspoiled landscapes, lake, and family-friendly atmosphere, Les Ballastières has quickly become a favorite among our campers.
A Family Adventure That Continues
Today, the next generation has taken the reins of the company. Our children, who grew up experiencing the changing seasons through camping, have inherited our passion and are actively involved in the development of our campsites in Alsace and Franche-Comté.
So it was only natural that we created Campéa, an organization that brings our two campgrounds together and allows our campers to discover how well our two sites complement each other:
- Les Castors: For a 100% Alsatian experience.
- Les Ballastières: for a relaxing nature experience in the Southern Vosges.
Campéa is the culmination of our entrepreneurial spirit, shaped by strong values: hospitality, friendliness, respect for nature, and sharing our passion.
